Volkswagen Tiguan R was faster than the first generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Volkswagen

The updated second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan was introduced in July 2020. Along with changes in the exterior and interior, the range of the model has expanded - a sports modification of the Tiguan R with a 320-horsepower 2.0 TSI has appeared. Now the manufacturer has published dynamic characteristics, and they are impressive: this compact crossover was faster than the first generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

The Tiguan R is equipped with a 7-speed DSG, all-wheel drive and an electronic R-Performance Torque Vectoring system capable of distributing torque between the rear wheels.

Also on the R-version, a reconfigured suspension with adaptively controlled shock absorbers is used (ground clearance is reduced by 10 mm relative to the conventional model). The sports exhaust system can be further upgraded to an Akrapovic titanium exhaust, and the 20-inch wheels can be swapped out for 21-inch Estorils.

But the most interesting thing is the speed indicators. The car spends only 4.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Surprisingly, this is even less than the first generation Porsche Cayenne Turbo S sports crossover of 2003, which at that time was one of the most dynamic production SUVs in the world, required.

Recall that the first generation Cayenne Turbo S was equipped with a 4.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8. The internal combustion engine developed 520 hp. and 720 Nm. Sprint 0-100 km / h the car performed in 5 seconds, the maximum speed is the same 250 km / h as the Tiguan R.

Sales of the hot new product have already begun, in Germany the Tiguan R costs from €56,703.
