Volkswagen ID.Buzz has an elongated modification

Volkswagen

The range of the Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric van produced since 2022 has been supplemented with a new modification - with an extended wheelbase (Long Wheel Base - LWB).

The overall length of this version is 4.96 m, the wheelbase is 3.24 m, both parameters are increased by 25 cm compared to the standard version.

If the regular ID.Buzz has a two-row interior layout, then the elongated one has a three-row one. Salon in this case becomes a seven- or six-seater (at the choice of the buyer). With a six-seat configuration, individual luxury seats are installed in the second row. All rear seats can be folded with simple manipulations - and get a cargo compartment with a volume of 2469 liters with a flat floor. With all the seats folded down, the trunk volume is 306 liters, which is also not bad.

The rear sliding doors are 19 cm wider than the original version, which makes it easier to get in and out.

The target market for ID.Buzz LWB is the USA, the standard version of the electric van is not sold there. At the same time, the novelty will be offered in the European Union.

The elongated ID.Buzz will be equipped only with a powerful electric motor - 286 hp. It is mounted on the rear axle, rear-wheel drive. The capacity of the traction battery is 85 kWh. The power reserve on one full charge is 400-500 km. For a "short" van, only a 204-horsepower engine is offered.

Top speed is limited to 160 km/h (145 km/h for the standard version). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 6.4 seconds.

The battery can withstand recharging from a station with a capacity of up to 200 kW - in this case, it is possible to replenish the energy reserve from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

As an option for the LWB, they will offer the longest glass panoramic roof in the history of Volkswagen - 154 cm. Moreover, it is with an electrochromic coating - the transparency is changed at the touch of a button.

Sales of new items in the European Union will start at the end of 2023, in the US - at the beginning of 2024.

In 2024, the all-wheel drive version of the ID.Buzz GTX is expected to be released - it will have a 335 hp engine.
