Volkswagen showed a prototype electric sedan

Volkswagen

Volkswagen has released photos and videos of ID.Aero electric sedan prototype. In general, the presentation of this development was supposed to take place at the Beijing International Motor Show in April, but it was canceled due to local outbreaks of coronavirus.

ID.Aero was originally created as an electric car, the variant with an internal combustion engine is not provided in principle in its design.

With streamlined body shapes and a long domed roof, the car echoes the 2018 ID Vizzion concept car. However, ID.Aero is closer to the upcoming production model, so the design project has been adapted to the certification requirements for cars - there are relatively large headlights and lights, “normal” rear-view mirrors, B-pillars, etc.

The design of the ID.Aero is based on the MEB modular electric platform, the production version of the car will take the top line in the hierarchy of electric vehicles of the ID sub-brand, while it will be called ID.7. Overall length ID.Aero - almost five meters, which is comparable, for example, with the Lexus ES. It is reported that the drag coefficient of the new VW development is 0.23, which is comparable to the Tesla Model 3. Of the characteristics, only the range on one full battery charge, which is 620 km, was revealed.

The Chinese market will be the first to receive the upcoming novelty - it will be offered there in the second half of 2022. It will be brought to the European Union and the USA later - in 2023.
