Tesla officially announced the postponement of the production date of the Cybertruck

Tesla

The American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has officially announced the postponement of the start of production of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck from 2022 to 2023. Thus, the company confirmed the rumors about another delay that have been circulating in recent weeks.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told Reuters that the serial production of Cybertruck, Semi electric heavy-duty tractor and Roadster sports car will start in 2023. The release of the Cybertruck was previously postponed, because initially this model was supposed to go on sale in 2021.

“This year we will not introduce new models. This makes no sense, because we will continue to be limited in the supply of components, ”Musk was quoted as saying by Reuters.

The head of the company expressed the hope that the production of Cybertruck will reach 250,000 vehicles per year, but this will take some time due to the introduction of many new technologies.

On January 25, Musk tweeted that he drove the prototype Cybertruck around the new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. “It's amazing,” he commented on his impressions of the pickup.

On January 24, a video was posted to the public, which allegedly depicted a pre-production prototype of the Cybertruck. In general, he retained the design of the original version, presented in 2019, but received a number of changes. Large rear-view mirrors and a huge “janitor” appeared on the car, and instead of futuristic rims, ordinary ones were installed.

According to the initial concept, Tesla Cybertruck will be produced in three versions - with one electric motor and rear-wheel drive, with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, or with three electric motors and all-wheel drive. From standstill to 60 mph (96 km/h) pickup in the top version accelerates in just 2.9 seconds. The power reserve varies from 400 to 800 km, depending on the modification.
