Tesla comes under recall due to autopilot error

Tesla

Tesla is recalling 53,822 EVs in the US with Full Self-Driving (which is still in beta).

The reason for the service campaign is that FSD in some situations neglects the mandatory Stop sign, which is fraught with traffic accidents at intersections. All four models of Tesla electric vehicles - Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y, cars produced in 2016-2022 were subject to the recall.

The US National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) clarifies that Tesla, at its own expense, will update the software on these vehicles and disable the non-stop drive function.

The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, noted that there were no accidents due to this problem. According to him, the autopilot simply slows down to 9 km / h and continues to move forward if it does not see cars, pedestrians and other obstacles. Moreover, in order for the car to behave in this way, you need to select the Assertive preset (“assertive”) in the autopilot settings.
