Toyota recalls barely delivered electric vehicles for repairs

Toyota Motor is recalling 2,700 Toyota bZ4X electric vehicles for repair, including 2,200 electric vehicles supplied to the European Union, 260 to the United States, 10 to Canada and 110 to Japan.

At the same time, Subaru announced the recall of 2,600 Subaru Solterra electric vehicles, cars on a platform shared with Toyota bZ4X.

The reason for the recall is the risk of wheel breakage due to insufficient fastener strength. The companies claim that they are acting preventively and so far not a single road accident due to a defect has been noted.

Production of Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra was launched at the end of April this year. For both companies, these are the first mass-produced EVs designed as EVs from the ground up, rather than rebuilt from fuel-powered vehicles.
