Subaru unveiled two sports prototypes in Tokyo

Subaru

At the opening Tokyo Auto Salon (Tokyo Auto Salon 2022), Subaru presented two prototypes created by Subaru Tecnica International (STI): STI E-RA and Solterra STI.

The STI E-RA is a four-engine electric racing car developed by Yamaha Motor. Their total power is 800 kW (1088 hp). Since each wheel is driven by a separate motor, thrust vector control is maintained. A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 60 kWh is responsible for power supply, the power reserve on a single charge is not given. The length of the car is 5010 mm, weight - 1690 kg.

The STI E-RA has an ambitious goal of completing the Nürburgring in 400 seconds (6 minutes 40 seconds) in 2023.

There is no information yet about whether it is planned to produce the STI E-RA in the future (at least in a small series).

The second sample, the Solterra STI, is based on the Solterra electric crossover, introduced in November 2021. The car received low-profile wheels of increased diameter, a spoiler with STI symbols and a bright red edging around the perimeter of the bottom of the body. Characteristics also differ from the serial version of Solterra, but they have not yet been reported.

Recall that the usual Solterra will be produced in two versions: with one and two electric motors. The front-wheel drive version has one 204 hp engine, and the all-wheel drive version has two 109 hp engines. (total 218 hp). Acceleration time 0-100 km / h is 8.4 and 7.7 seconds, respectively. The mass differs insignificantly: 1930 and 2020 kg.

Regardless of the number of engines, a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh is used, covered from below with a steel sheet. Power reserve - up to 500 km. Subaru Solterra will be a global model with sales starting in mid-2022.
