In October of this year, at the Tokyo International Motor Show, Subaru introduced the second generation of the Levorg station wagon, however, as a prototype. However, there will be another car show in Tokyo in January, which is mainly dedicated to tuning, and there Subaru will show a fast version of the Levorg. On the eve of the premiere of a new modification of the station wagon, Subaru showed a 7-second video.
The upcoming novelty was called Levorg STI Sport, however, this time we are not talking about the production version, but about the prototype. The Levorg STI Sport differs from its October predecessor in a body kit (you can see the new side skirts in the video), an exhaust system and large rims with low-profile tires. Most likely, work was also carried out on the brakes and suspension.
No technical details yet, but Subaru says the Levorg STI Sport has a 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine with direct fuel injection under the hood. Most likely, we are talking about a "bloated" version of the 1.8-liter FA18 engine, which was equipped with a prototype of the new Levorg. It probably works with a Lineartronic CVT and all-wheel drive. On its basis, as foreign publications write with reference to their sources, a new 2.0-liter engine for the Subaru WRX and WRX STI will also be built.
In the new generation, Levorg, following several models of the brand, moved to the SGP modular platform, which is characterized by increased strength and provides for the installation of both an internal combustion engine with a hybrid component and electric motors.
The debut of the Levorg STI Sport station wagon will take place at the Tokyo Motor Show, which will be held from January 10 to 12.
Sales of the new Subaru Levorg will begin in 2020.
The first generation Subaru Levorg (factory code VM) has been in production since 2014.
