Prodrive has developed a revised and expanded "edition" of the Impreza 22B STI

Subaru

The British company Prodrive has developed a restomod based on the first generation Subaru Impreza of the 90s. The new Prodrive project has the P25 index and is inspired by the famous Impreza 22B STI sports modification, which was assembled by Subaru in 1997-1998 in the amount of 424 units and was a road-adapted rally car that won the WRC championship.

The P25 is not built from scratch, it is created on the basis of the Impreza WRX in the coupe body, which is bought on the secondary market (that is, a more massive modification is taken as a basis than the 22B STI). Prodrive disassembles the car, carries out troubleshooting of the body frame and completely restores it. Additional amplifiers are welded into the frame, the structure is painted - and then a new car is assembled “around it”.

All steel external panels are replaced by specialists from a British company with molded carbon fiber. Moreover, in design, they repeat the elements of the original Impreza 22B STI.

The Prodrive P25 is powered by Subaru's 2.5-litre boxer petrol engine, which has been carefully redesigned by the company's specialists, leaving only the cylinder block as standard. A Garrett turbocharger with an intercooler was installed, new pistons, connecting rods, and a gas distribution mechanism were used. In addition, an exhaust system with titanium and stainless steel elements was installed. Engine power - 400 hp, torque - 600 Nm. Compared to the original 22B STI, the Prodrive brainchild is 30% more powerful.

The engine is aggregated with a 6-speed sequential gearbox with helical gears and a permanent all-wheel drive system. Prodrive P25 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

The curb weight of the novelty is only 1200 kg.

The front and rear tracks of the P25 are 1770mm, which is the same as the 22B STI. Front and rear of the car - suspension type MacPherson strut with adjustable stiffness of shock absorbers. Springs and anti-roll bars are optimized for high-speed cornering on asphalt. Installed particularly effective brakes with 15-inch discs and 6-piston calipers. The wheels are 19-inch, on branded Prodrive discs.

The British company did not show the interior of the P25, but a digital instrument panel is promised here, which has a built-in data logger and preset modes for driving on ordinary roads and a race track.

The Prodrive P25 will have a live premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, June 23-26.

In total, Prodrive plans to assemble 25 of these machines, each will be sold at a price of 460,000 pounds excluding VAT.

Recall that the main specialization of Prodrive is the manufacture of race cars for professional motorsport.
