Restomodders presented a 450-horsepower Porsche 911 in the spirit of the 70s

Porsche

California-based Singer Vehicle Design, which specializes in the restoration and alteration of classic Porsches, has unveiled the first turbocharged 911 coupe in its history: all previous cars were equipped exclusively with atmospherics. The novelty was named Singer Turbo Study.

The 911 generation 964 (1989-1993) was taken as the basis, although ultimately the exterior received many references to the classic 930 (1974-1989). This is probably due to the fact that SVD founder Rob Dickinson has special feelings for the 930, because it was he who turned out to be the first Porsche in his life: he was driven in such a coupe at the age of 11, after which German sports cars remained forever in his heart .

The design was borrowed from turbocharged Porsches from the mid-70s, but compared to the original coupes, the bodywork has been optimized to reflect modern ideas about optimal aerodynamics.

From the original in the car, only the skeleton remained: all the hinged panels are new, they are molded from carbon fiber. Engine, suspension, optional all-wheel drive system - everything is assembled from scratch. ICE - boxer "six" with a volume of 3.8 liters. Like the original 930/964 coupés, it is air-cooled. The motor was equipped with two turbochargers with an electric bypass valve. The maximum power is 450 hp.

Like the original 911s of the era, the car uses a manual transmission. But in addition to the canonical rear-wheel drive, the buyer can also choose a full one: Porsche itself began to use it only in the mid-90s, that is, it was not yet in the 930/964. Carbon-ceramic brakes are another sign of modernity.

The curb weight of the Singer Turbo Study is 1170 kg for the rear-wheel drive version and 1270 kg for the all-wheel drive version.

Singer Vehicle Design does not openly name the price of a finished coupe or a conversion of a client car. In an interview with Western publications, Rob Dickinson admitted that the cost of a sports car will start at $ 750,000. Production will begin at the end of 2022, 70 pre-orders have already been collected. The public premiere of the Turbo Study demo is scheduled for June at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
