The Spanish resource km77.com tested the electric station wagon Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo in the “moose test”. It imitates the driver's attempt to avoid a collision with an obstacle that suddenly appeared on the road, which may be, for example, an elk running out onto the roadway.
To pass the test, the vehicle must pass the test at an input speed of 77 km/h. However, the German electric car did not submit to this milestone: the driver failed to “refuel” it into the second turn. Only at 74 km / h Taycan Cross Turismo was able to pass the test.
A few more attempts at a speed of 76-77 km / h ended unsuccessfully: although the car went into an arc, it certainly knocked down several cones.
Previously, the Taycan Turbo S (that is, a similar electric car, but in the form factor of a sedan) coped with the test at a speed of 78 km / h. The backlog of the station wagon is associated with an increased center of gravity due to increased ground clearance and the use of other tires. By the way, the electric car weighs 2404 kg. Such a solid mass leaves a negative imprint on handling.
In September, the Tesla Model Y electric crossover passed a similar test with honors: its result was 83 km / h.
