Porsche Macan may lose gasoline engines

Porsche

The current compact crossover Porsche Macan has been produced since 2014, which means that in the coming years it should change generations. In 2019, the German brand introduced its first all-electric Taycan model, and the Germans are clearly not going to stop there: the Macan should also switch to electric traction.

According to Car And Driver magazine, citing its sources, next year the Porsche Macan will get a fully electric version, and by 2024 the model will lose all petrol versions at all (recall that diesel versions were stopped due to dieselgate in early 2018). th). However, another colleague insider claims that Porsche is not going to give up on gasoline engines and the time frame in this regard can be flexible.

After the debut of the electric version of the current Macan in 2021, the petrol version will change the generation in 2022, and the two Macans will have distanced themselves from each other by then. Porsche will keep a close eye on the popularity of both versions, and if petrol Macans are no longer in high demand, then Porsche management will get rid of them in a short time.

The Porsche Macan is the Stuttgart brand's most popular model, and it sells particularly well in the US. There, at the end of 2019, the Germans sold 22,667 of its copies against 19,001 units of the Cayenne full-size crossover. Germans sell sports cars much worse: last year, 3,880 units of the 718 Cayman and 9,265 copies of the 911 in a wide variety of modifications were sold on the American market.
