Porsche has held the world premiere of the 718 Spyder RS, a modification of the current generation Type 982 mid-engined 718 Boxster roadster.
The special feature of the 718 Spyder RS is its super-efficient engine. The car is equipped with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol unit, similar to that used in the 911 GT3 and 718 Cayman GT4 RS track coupes. Power is 500 hp, torque - 450 Nm. It is mated to a 7-speed PDK preselective robotic gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
The exterior of the novelty almost repeats the 718 Cayman GT4 RS coupe, adjusted for an open body type. The front fenders and hood are molded from lightweight and durable carbon fiber. The fabric upper, in the name of saving weight, is devoid of a servo drive - it needs to be unfolded and folded only manually. The weight of the roof is 18.4 kg, almost half that of the power roof of the 718 Boxster. The curb weight of the car is 1410 kg.
The 718 Spyder RS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, from zero to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 308 km / h.
The chassis is almost identical to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS coupe in detail, but the 718 Spyder RS still has its own settings, not so rigid. The Spyder is road legal, unlike the GT4 RS, which is billed as a pure track car.
Porsche 718 Spyder RS will be made to order, the price in Germany is 155,575 euros. Shipments of such machines to customers will start at the end of summer.
