Porsche has no plans to produce a crossover smaller than the Macan, Detlef von Platen, head of global sales at the company, said in a statement.
He explained that Porsche positions itself as a manufacturer of exclusive sports cars and the creation of cheap models can undermine the reputation of the brand. For the same reason, the company does not plan to produce a sports car below the Cayman/Boxster family.
Now Porsche is focused on developing the existing model range and developing new options. In particular, in the foreseeable future, a system will appear on its cars that will automatically look for a free parking space. In addition, a sports station wagon based on the flagship Panamera model will debut in the spring of 2017. Porsche is also preparing to launch the first all-electric model, the design of which will refer to the impressive Mission E concept car.
Recall that rumors that Porsche is developing a new crossover, smaller than the Macan, have become especially active in European and American automotive media over the past two months. Journalists claimed that the model would be named Majun (from Macan Junior).
