The range of modifications of the mid-size Peugeot 508 has been replenished with the PSE sports hybrid, which will be available in both body types of the family: liftback and station wagon. The novelty was developed by the Sport Engineered division and is equipped with a 360 hp power plant. This is the most powerful serial Peugeot in the history of the brand.
The 508 PSE hybrid system consists of a 1.6-liter petrol turbo engine (200 hp), front and rear electric motors, an 8-speed e-EAT8 automatic transmission and a high-voltage battery. The battery can be recharged from an external network. The drive of the car is full. Acceleration time from zero to 100 km / h in 508 PSE, regardless of the body, takes only 5.2 seconds, acceleration from 80 to 120 km / h - 3 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. There is no information on battery capacity, but the 508s can travel 42 kilometers on the WLTP cycle on pure electric power. The average consumption of gasoline is only 2.03 l / 100 km. Charging a high-voltage battery from a wall outlet takes seven hours. In addition to the power plant and transmission, Peugeot hybrids differ from the standard ones in reinforced four-piston brake calipers with 380 mm brake discs in front, an extended track (24 mm in front and 12 mm in the rear).
Sports models are equipped with low-profile wheels and a light body kit (front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser). In the exterior, accents of bright light green color attract attention.
In the interior of the most powerful 508s, you can find Nappa leather with light green stitching, Alcantara, aluminum and wood inserts. The multimedia system is represented by a 10-inch screen, under which the climate control unit is located, instrument readings are displayed on a digital panel. The driver's seat is equipped with a massage function, a high-quality Focal audio system is responsible for a good mood.
Sales of new products will begin in October, prices have not yet been published. The most powerful liftback 508 with a hybrid engine is now estimated in Europe at 51,800 euros. Obviously, plug-in modifications with a high-voltage battery and a more efficient power plant will cost even more.
