Peugeot has unveiled a racing version of the 308 GTi hot hatch with the Racing Cup designation. The car will be shown in mid-September in Frankfurt, and at the end of 2016 the car will go on sale.
Under the hood of the 308 Racing Cup is boosted to 308 hp. modification of the 1.6-liter THP turbo engine - compared to the serial 308 GTi, the output increased by 38 hp. The weight of the machine does not exceed 1050 kg.
The increase in power was achieved by installing a turbocharger from the 208 T16 rally car. In the future, Peugeot promises to make the engine even more productive. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.
The car was equipped with a wide aerodynamic body kit and an increased track - the total width of the car is 1910 mm. A significant part of the suspension elements of the racing 308 Racing Cup is borrowed from the "civilian" hot hatch, but there are differences - the car is still designed for track use. Note that the hatchback is equipped with six-piston brakes.
The 308 Racing Cup is expected to be purchased by private drivers and teams to compete in the monocup or touring car European racing series. The price of the car is not specified.
