Peugeot brings 508 Sport Engineered to Geneva

Peugeot

In recent years, the French brand Peugeot has been often criticized for the fact that there is not a single truly fast car in its current model line. However, everything can change soon: the French are going to bring a concept car to the Geneva Motor Show, which, in terms of the chosen approach to the solutions implemented in it, is quite reminiscent of a production model.

The car was named 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered, and, in fact, it is a hybrid version of the 508 sedan, which is already on sale in the brand's European showrooms. Recall that the standard Peugeot 508 is equipped with 1.6-liter turbocharged "fours" PureTech with a capacity of 178-222 hp, which allow it to accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.9-7.3 seconds. The hybrid power plant under the hood of the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered consists of just the same 1.6-liter turbo engine of the Puretech series, which works with a 112-horsepower engine at the front axle and 203-horsepower at the rear. The concept can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, from 80 to 180 km/h in 9.3 seconds. The maximum speed of the car is 250 km/h. The electric motors are connected to a battery with a capacity of 11.8 kWh, resulting in an all-electric range of 50 kilometers on the WLTP cycle.

In addition to the power plant, the concept differs from the serial 508 in the chassis: the front track is expanded by 24 mm in front and 12 mm in the rear, the ground clearance is reduced, front brake discs with a diameter of 380 mm are installed. The car is shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires with a dimension of 245/35 R20.

The concept is highly aerodynamic: the front bumper of the 508 has enlarged air intakes with flaps that actively direct air to the radiator. Winglets are installed on the sides of the car, and a diffuser under the rear bumper.

The interior of the car has new seats, carbon fiber inserts, as well as Alcantara.

Peugeot has not yet said anything about the prospects of the concept, but there is no doubt that they are, and the PSA concern announced back in 2016 that its hybrid models will have the same concept as the hero of this news.

The presentation of the car will take place at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be open to visitors from March 7 to 17.
