Crossover Peugeot 2008 changed generation: a new platform and appearance

Peugeot

The 2008 Peugeot compact crossover was released in 2013. The car became a direct competitor to Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka and Mini Countryman. Now the French manufacturer has introduced the second generation of the model.

Both visually and technically, the novelty is similar to the Peugeot 208 hatch released in February. The fresh CMP (Common Modular Platform), also known as EMP1, is also used here. The same 208th with its help became 30 kg lighter with a body length increased by 4 cm. The effectiveness of the diet in relation to the Peugeot 2008 has not yet been disclosed, but it should be borne in mind that the new generation stretched immediately by 14 cm - up to 4.3 meters.

Slightly less noticeable, from 2538 to 2650 mm, the wheelbase has increased. Due to the increased dimensions, it was possible to make the interior more spacious, as well as increase the volume of the trunk from 360 to 434 liters.

As is often the case with related models, it is almost impossible to distinguish a Peugeot 2008 from the inside of a 208. Not only the general architecture coincides, but also individual elements. The new crossover can be equipped with a media system display with a diagonal of 5 to 10 inches. In keeping with Peugeot's signature style, the all-digital i-Cockpit is mounted higher than usual, so you have to look at it above the steering wheel. The automatic transmission selector is made non-fixable.

It is no wonder that all versions of the Peugeot 2008 are copied from the 208. The novelty can also be ordered with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder PureTech turbo engine with 100, 130 or 155 hp, as well as a 1.5-liter BlueHDi diesel engine with 100 or 130 “horses ". 100-horsepower internal combustion engines are combined only with "mechanics", older versions - only with an 8-speed "automatic" Aisin. Only a petrol version with a return of 130 hp. can be equipped with any transmission of your choice.

But what cannot be chosen is the type of drive. Peugeot 2008 will continue to be produced only with front drive wheels.

But a fully electric version is provided. Peugeot e-2008 is equipped with a 136-horsepower electric motor with a constant maximum thrust of 260 Nm and a 50 kWh battery. According to the measurements according to the modern WLTP standard, a full charge should be enough for 310 kilometers. The battery warranty is eight years or 160,000 kilometers: during this time, its residual capacity must not fall below 70% of the nominal.

The new generation Peugeot 2008 will go on sale in Europe at the end of 2020. The Russians will most likely have to wait until 2021. The car will be produced in Spain and China.
