New generation Opel Astra family expanded with Sports Tourer station wagon

Opel

Stellantis introduced the C-class station wagon Opel Astra Sports Tourer.

Recall that the sixth generation Astra (Astra L) in the back of a five-door hatchback was released in July 2021. It is based on the EMP2 platform, which is used for a large number of French models: Peugeot 308, 508, 3008, 4008, 5008, Citroen C4, C5 Aircross and others.

The "car" received a trunk with a volume of 608 liters in the normal state and 1634 - with the rear seats folded down. Completely identical parameters are declared for the platform Peugeot 308 SW. The back of the rear sofa unfolds in a ratio of 40:20:40.

In terms of power units, there are no differences from the Opel Astra hatch. Three engines are also available for the Sports Tourer: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol (110 or 130 bhp), a 1.5-litre turbodiesel (110 bhp) and a plug-in hybrid consisting of a 1.6-litre petrol engine and electric motor (total power 180 or 225 hp). The 12.4 kWh battery installed under the rear seat allows you to drive up to 60 km on pure electric power.

Classic internal combustion engines are combined with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-band "automatic". The hybrid means only an eight-speed "automatic".

The station wagon will be produced at a plant in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Sales in the European Union will begin in mid-2022, prices have not yet been announced.
