New generation Honda Stepwgn sales begin in Japan

Honda

In Japan, on May 27, sales of the new (sixth) generation mid-size Stepwgn van will begin.

Recall that this car was presented in January 2022 - its exterior is made angular, with a deliberately pronounced hood, straight lines and “clean” sidewalls.

The novelty has two styling versions - Air and Spada. They differ in front and rear, and specifically in the shape of the bumpers and grille. The Air has a quieter exterior, while the Spada has a larger grille with bold chrome surrounds and more expressive bumpers. In addition, the first version has a light interior, the second is dark.

The salon was designed based on the goal of achieving the most comfortable, "home" atmosphere, in addition, it has ample opportunities for transformation.

Armchairs of the second row are regulated not only in the longitudinal, but also in the transverse direction. The range in the longitudinal direction is 780 mm, in the transverse direction - 75 mm. There are fold-down ottomans that allow you to stretch and relax your legs.

On the third row, the seats are elevated and have thick cushions - thus, it is comfortable even in the “gallery”, in addition, a good forward view is organized from the last places.

The upholstery uses water- and dirt-repellent artificial leather - convenient if the family has small children who climb on the seats with their feet.

The layout of the cabin can be either seven or eight seats.

As standard, the new Stepwgn has an 11.4-inch media system, and there are also Honda Connect telecom services. For rear passengers, a 15.6-inch overhead screen will be offered. The dimension of the digital instrument panel is 10.2 inches.

Overall length for Stepwgn Air is 4800 mm, for Spada - 4830 mm, width - 1750 mm, height - 1840 or 1855 mm. Wheelbase - 2890 mm.

Van is offered in two versions - petrol and hybrid. The first is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine VTEC Turbo model L15C, its power is 150 hp, torque is 203 Nm.

The hybrid modification is equipped with an e:HEV system, in which a 2.0-liter petrol aspirated LFA (145 hp, 175 Nm) is combined with an electric motor, a generator and a lithium-ion battery. The total maximum return is 184 hp. The unit has three operating modes: Hybrid Drive, Engine Drive and EV Drive.

The first one is designed for driving in the city, it is a sequential circuit, that is, the internal combustion engine has no connection with the wheels and recharges the battery through the generator, which subsequently feeds the traction electric motor. The Engine Drive mode is activated on the tracks - the car drives on it only on the internal combustion engine, that is, the electrical installation is not involved. Finally, EV Drive is used for driving at low speeds - it implies that the car is driven only by an electric motor and does not use an internal combustion engine. The average fuel consumption of the hybrid Stepwgn is only 5.0 l/100 km.

The e:HEV-equipped Stepwgn is exclusively front-wheel drive, with an all-wheel drive option available as an option for the petrol car.

The curb weight of the car depends on the modification and varies from 1710 to 1855 kg.

The new Stepwgn petrol version in Japan starts at 2,998,600 yen, while the hybrid starts at 3,382,500 yen.
