Honda Motor has announced the release of a new "box" engine (crate engine, that is, supplied assembled for the secondary market) from the Civic Type R. The ICE is sold fully equipped for those who want to do a swap. The main purpose is to participate in races.
Honda Performance Development has been selling the K20C1 engine since 2017. But now something will change. Firstly, if earlier it was supplied only with a generator, starter and turbine, now it is already equipped at the factory with injection, ignition systems, sensors, an electronic control unit (ECU) and even a gas pedal. Secondly, before the ICE was available exclusively to members of the Honda Racing Line and racing teams. From now on, anyone can buy it.
K20C1 - 2.0-liter turbo engine. It develops 310 hp. and 400 Nm. The compression ratio is 9.8.
In the US, the price of the complete engine will be $9,000. For comparison, Ford's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 in a similar configuration costs about the same - $ 9874.
