Honda Motor is preparing to introduce the North American version of the next-generation HR-V compact crossover - on this occasion, the company has distributed the first branded photos of the upcoming new product. The car has nothing to do with the model of the same name for Europe.

In the previous generation with the RU index, the Honda HR-V in the American specification was identical to the international version and the Japanese Vezel crossover. In the new incarnation of the HR-V for North America, it will be noticeably larger than both its predecessor (which had 4335 mm) and the European HR-V / Japanese Vezel of new generations (4385 mm). However, the dimensions of the new HR-V for the US and Canada have not yet been published, it is only specified that it will become significantly more spacious in the cabin.

According to preliminary data, in terms of dimensions, the North American HR-V will come as close as possible to the CR-V, the length and width of which are 4623 and 1855 mm, respectively.

The Honda HR-V shown does not share a single body panel with its European namesake. The exterior is dominated by smooth lines and curves. In the front bumper there is a large grille in the center with large cells. In comparison with its predecessor, the car has lost the hidden rear door handles (on the European HR-V, they are preserved in the new generation).

The American HR-V is built on the platform of the 11th generation Honda Civic sedan. The car received a fully independent suspension. Power units are still kept secret, but it is already known that a hybrid version will be sold in the US. The setup is expected to include a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine and a pair of electric motors.

Sales of the HR-V in the US will begin in the summer. Prices are not reported. It is noteworthy that later Honda is going to bring the American HR-V to Europe, where they already have their own HR-V, but it will be presented under a different name. Which one is still a secret.
