Honda Motor on March 31 announced a recall in Japan of 578,956 vehicles across 13 models - Fit, Freed, Freed+, Vezel, StepWGN, Shuttle, Odyssey, CR-V, Insight, Grace, Jade, Accord, Honda e and Clarity.
The reason is common - a massive defect in the brake system, due to which the pedal "gets heavier" and requires more effort to press.
The recall applies to vehicles manufactured between July 2, 2018 and March 1, 2022.
The nature of the problem is described as follows: assembly oil during the manufacture of components of the electric brake booster could get into the pressure sensor due to a technology violation, as a result, the sensor corrodes during operation, which leads to an increase in the force on the brake pedal.
On all vehicles covered by the service campaign, the brake assembly will be checked and, if necessary, defective parts will be replaced.
To date, four accidents have been recorded due to the problem described.
