Honda launches second-generation business jet

Honda

Honda Motor has announced the release of a new (second) generation business jet called the HondaJet Elite II. The development was presented at the National Business Aviation exhibition in Orlando, USA.

Elite II was created by a comprehensive modernization of the previous model HondaJet, which has been produced since 2015.

The volume of the fuel tank has been increased, thanks to which the flight range has increased from 2661 to 2865 km. The maximum takeoff weight has been increased - it was 4854 kg, it became 5035 kg. At the same time, part of the cargo compartment had to be sacrificed, its volume fell from 1869 to 1756 liters.

Automatic ground spoilers (ground spoiler) were added to the HondaJet design - they increase the intensity of speed reduction during landing. In addition, a steering assistance system has appeared, which makes it easier to turn the wheels of the chassis in the bow.

The color schemes for interior design have been expanded - Onyx greige gray + wooden accents or steel gray + marbled inserts have been added.

Improved sound insulation - a new sound-absorbing material has been introduced on the inner walls, it reduces the level of noise from the air flow.

Autothrottle and Emergency Autoland features have been announced and will be available to customers by the end of 2023. The first automatically adjusts the thrust "to the desired flight characteristics", the second allows you to land the aircraft in a fully unmanned mode. True, Emergency Autoland is an emergency system in case an emergency occurs on board.

The engines remained the same - this is a turbofan GE Honda HF120. With it, the business jet develops a cruising speed of 782 km/h.

At the same time, Honda Motor announced that, together with General Electric, they successfully tested the HF120 engine in a new version - with adaptation to the consumption of 100% environmentally friendly synthetic jet fuel SAF. This is work for the future - to reduce the toxicity of HondaJet emissions.

Recall that in 2021, Honda showed an experimental HondaJet 2600 Concept, which had a flight range of 4861 km and a cruising speed of 833 km/h.

Honda business jets are manufactured in the USA at the plant of the HACI (Honda Aircraft Company) subsidiary.
