Honda Motor and Sony at the CES-2023 consumer electronics show in the United States introduced the Afeela brand, under which they will produce jointly developed pure electric vehicles. Recall that the two companies signed a partnership agreement in March 2022, the joint venture is called Sony Honda Mobility (SHM), the shares in it are divided 50/50. From what word the name Afeela comes from is not specified, however, SHM says that it contains the English word feel, that is, “feel”.
On the occasion of the launch of the brand, Sony and Honda showed an experimental pure electric sedan Afeela Vision-S. The car is a new iteration of the Sony Vision-S electric car, which has been touring shows since 2020. The designers carried out a restyling - in the car they completely changed the design of the front and rear parts of the body, and also applied new external panels.
In the new Vision-S, the semi-autopilot and preventive safety features receive data from a total of 45 cameras, sensors and sensors. Advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon chips are used for semi-autopilot and interaction of the car with passengers and other vehicles. Sony has also equipped the electric car with an advanced media system through which you can watch movies, listen to music and play video games (not on the go, of course).
Nothing is said about the technical characteristics of the Afeela Vision-S, in the previous iteration the car had a length of 4.7 m and two electric motors (one per axle) with a total power of about 270 hp.
The first mass-produced Afeela electric car will appear in 2025.
