The new generation Ford Ranger pickup has a sports version

Ford

The range of mid-size frame pickup truck Ford Ranger new generation has a sports version of the Raptor.

The novelty was shown in two guises at once: 1) for the European Union and 2) for the rest of the world.

In both cases, the car is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo petrol V6 EcoBoost. The global version of the model develops 392 hp. power and 583 Nm of torque, European - 288 hp and 491 Nm. Such a significant difference is explained by the strict environmental restrictions "Euro-6d" in the EU, in which the engine of the 392-horsepower version did not fit.

The engine uses a turbo-lag overcoming system taken from the arsenal of the Focus ST sports hatchback. It delays the rotation of the two turbines for three seconds after the driver takes his foot off the gas pedal - in case he suddenly wants to accelerate again.

As is the case with other cars in the Raptor line, the pickup is equipped with a reinforced suspension. The new Ranger Raptor uses original aluminum suspension arms, Watt's own linkage in the rear axle and FOX shock absorbers, with which the ground clearance is increased by 6.35 cm compared to the standard pickup.

The stiffness of the springs and shock absorbers is increased by 25% compared to conventional versions. Reinforced shock absorber mounts, front shock absorber strut and rear bracket.

The gearbox is a nine-speed hydromechanical “automatic”, the drive is a permanent all-wheel drive, with a two-stage transfer case. There are front and rear cross-axle differential locks and seven preset driving modes - Normal, Sport, Slippery (slippery road), Rock Crawl (rocky road), Sand (sand), Mud / Ruts (dirt, ruts) and Baja (dunes).

In the European version, the car also received Trial Control off-road cruise control, which operates at low speeds - up to 32 km / h.

Outside, the Ranger Raptor can be distinguished from a standard pickup truck by the original front and rear bumper groups, its own radiator grille with large FORD letters, matrix LED headlights as standard, developed wheel arch extensions, off-road tires with 17-inch wheels.

Some local markets will offer a variant of the new Ranger Raptor with a 2.0-liter biturbo diesel with 204 hp. and a torque of 500 Nm - the same was installed on the previous generation Ranger Raptor.

In all versions, the new generation sports pickup can pull a trailer weighing up to 2,500 kg.

Sales of the car will start within a few months.
