Ford Motor has unveiled the third generation of the extreme sports pickup F-150 Raptor. Recall that this model has been produced since 2009, since 2015 the second generation has been produced.
The new F-150 presented in the summer of 2020 became the basis for the Raptor. As before, the car looks very formidable: bumpers with increased angles of entry (up to 33.1 degrees) and exit (up to 24.9 degrees), large wheels (now not only 35-, but also 37 -inch), two exhaust pipes and, of course, a body extension package.
Ground clearance - 333 mm with wheels of increased diameter. Suspension travel has been increased to 356mm at the front and 381mm at the rear, 25% more than the original Raptor. This was made possible thanks to the new five-link rear axle suspension. The new generation FOX Live Valve shock absorbers are equipped with remote reservoirs and are able to change the stiffness. A fluid is used that reduces friction losses inside the shock absorber, which increases comfort both off-road and on the road.
Load capacity increased by 90 kg to 635 kg. The mass of the towed trailer is up to 3720 kg.
The power unit remained the same. This is a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost, paired with a 10-speed "automatic". The return has not yet been specified (the last Raptor had 457 hp and 692 Nm).
But Ford is also preparing a surprise: in 2022, the Raptor R will be released. It will receive a V8, which has not yet been officially announced. It is assumed that this is a 5.2-liter compressor engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500, on which it develops 760 hp. This version will be very useful, because so far the F-150 Raptor can not oppose anything to the 715-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX.
Sales of the third generation Raptor will begin in the US in the summer of 2021.
