Swedish-Chinese Polestar showed an electric car for the Arctic

Volvo

The Swedish-Chinese company Polestar has unveiled the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle show car.

This car is made on the basis of the Polestar 2 serial compact electric liftback, but differs from it in preparation for driving on icy and not very high-quality roads in the Far North.

Ground clearance relative to the original car is increased by 30 mm - up to 197 mm, instead of standard wheels, studded 245/35 R19 dimensions with light alloy wheels are used (there are up to 490 studs on each wheel), Öhlins shock absorbers are also used with a stiffness 30% less than that of standard. The particularly effective Brembo brakes are taken from the optional Performance Pack offered to regular Polestar 2 buyers. Also added is the so-called launch control, i.e. launch control for a quick start.

Engine power has also been increased. Arctic Circle is equipped with two electric motors with a combined output of 350 kW (469 hp) and a torque of 680 Nm, the drive is permanent all-wheel drive.

From an exterior point of view, the Arctic Circle has several features - these are LED auxiliary headlights, massive towing eyes front and rear, and body paint in matte gray with a white livery. Recaro sports front seats are installed in the cabin for the driver and front passenger. Snow shovel included.

Recall that Polestar is advertising the Polestar 2 for the second time with the construction of a show car. In 2021, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed sports car festival, the company showed the Experimental Polestar 2, a version of the model modified for asphalt racing.

Polestar is a joint venture between Volvo Cars and China's Geely (who also owns Volvo Cars). Polestar is headquartered in Gothenburg (Sweden), and the machines are manufactured at a factory in Zhejiang (China).
