Toyota and Suzuki jointly develop low-cost compact crossover

Suzuki

Toyota Motor and Suzuki Motor will present jointly developed low-cost compact crossovers in June-July 2022. The new models will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, according to Autocar India.

The target market for promising crossovers Toyota and Suzuki will be India, where they will also launch the production of these cars.

Machines are created on the TNGA-B modular platform, aka DNGA. They plan to equip them with hybrid power plants: in the basic configuration, an option with a starter-generator is expected, in a more expensive version, a parallel-type system. The internal combustion engine in both cases is gasoline, diesel modifications are not planned.

Most of the components for promising models will be manufactured by suppliers of the Indian branch of Suzuki Motor, however, the production of a number of “critical” components will be delegated to Toyota Motor partners.

According to the supporting frame and most of the outer body panels of the car, they will be the same, however, the design of the front part and individual plastic elements for each of the two is different.

Probably, Toyota and Suzuki crossovers of joint development will be taken outside the Indian market.
