Suzuki Motor has introduced a new modification of the Jimny frame SUV - an elongated one with five doors. Recall that until now Jimny existed only in a three-door body.
The world premiere of the car took place at the AutoExpo 2023 international motor show that opened in New Delhi. India is the target market for the five-door, its production will be launched in the same country - at the facilities of the Maruti Suzuki plant (a local branch of the Japanese concern) in Gurugram.
The overall length of the “stretched” Jimny is 3985 mm, the wheelbase is 2590 mm. In both parameters, the car is increased relative to the “three-door” by 340 mm. The width and height of the two cars are identical and are 1645 and 1720 mm, respectively.
"five-door" has its own one-piece stamped roof, original front and rear doors, sills and rear fenders. Moreover, even the spars of the supporting frame are made of their own, solid. That is, Suzuki engineers deliberately avoided workarounds with inserts and did everything in the most capital-intensive way.
Of the external body elements, all plumage panels, the tailgate, front and rear bumpers are unified between the three- and five-door Jimny. A strictly full-face elongated car, however, can also be recognized - by the original grille with a chrome-plated frame of the slots. The dimension of the wheels is 195/80 R15.
The front panel of the cabin and the front seats of the five-door Jimny are similar to the original model. The package includes a media system with a nine-inch touch screen. The rear sofa is designed for three passengers.
The equipment of the car includes the ability to synchronize the media system with a smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Arkamys audio system, six airbags, ABS, ESP, hill-start assistance, and hill descent control.
In terms of technology, there are also no differences from the “three-door”. The extended model will be equipped with the same 1.5-liter Suzuki K15B gasoline engine with 105 hp. and a torque of 134 Nm, it is aggregated with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-band hydromechanical “automatic”.
The Jimny has continuous axles, permanent rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. There is a downshift.
The angle of entry of the "five-door" is 36 degrees, ramps - 24, exit - 50. Ground clearance - 210 mm.
The length of the car is by no means accidentally driven within four meters - cars slightly less than this value are popular in India, since their owners pay a reduced vehicle tax.
Pre-orders for the novelty in India are already being accepted, and live sales will start in May 2023, the price will be about 1.2 million rupees.
Later, deliveries to the global market will start.
