Mercedes-Benz tested the strength of the new generation of the smart fortwo, which premiered a couple of days ago in Berlin. Unusual conditions were created for the test: instead of the classic frontal or side impacts, a collision with an S-Class sedan was simulated with a 50 percent overlap at a speed of 50 km / h.
Mercedes made a very laconic conclusion from the crash test: after the collision, the driver and passenger of smart left enough space, so they have an excellent chance of survival.
Apparently, we should wait for the result of a similar independent crash test, which may not be so rosy. For example, in 2009, the Americans from the IIHS did not praise the smart fortwo at all after a collision with a Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
