Smart will present the third-generation Fortwo cabriolet in Frankfurt.
The car is built on the basis of the Fortwo hatchback, the platform for which Daimler developed together with Renault - the French created a new generation of Twingo on its basis.
The creators of the new open Smart claim that the car body has become the most durable in the history of the brand's convertibles - torsional rigidity has increased by 15% compared to its predecessor. To do this, the engineers added several new power elements to the car.
The convertible roof is made of fabric and can operate in one of three positions: fully closed, open to the C-pillars and open to the end. The power roof opens or closes in 12 seconds, but complete removal requires manual removal of the two guide rails that connect the windshield to the B-pillars.
The roof is available in three colors - black, red or blue denim look.
There are two engines: a three-cylinder liter "aspirated" with a capacity of 70 hp. and a 0.9-liter turbo engine with the same number of cylinders, developing 89 hp. The units are able to work with a five-speed "mechanics" or "robot".
