Smart Says Goodbye to Gasoline Engines in Limited Edition Fortwo #21

Smart

In recent years, the leadership of Daimler AG has often stated that the Smart brand has a future only as a manufacturer of electric cars. In the US, Smart's sales have declined tenfold over the past five years, forcing the group's management to take drastic steps with regard to the brand, as a result of which 50% of its shares were bought out by Geely. Entering the era of total electrification, Smart says goodbye to gasoline engines with the final special version of the Fortwo #21 model.

The limited series will consist of 21 cars, symbolizing not only their number in the series, but also 21 years that have passed since the release of the first car of this brand.

Visually, all copies from the special series will differ from the standard Fortwo in yellow and black livery, by the way, the yellow color of the car is exactly the same as that of the first generation Smart - it is called "Hello Yello". The livery was developed in a very strange way: artist Roman Signer drove the car through a tunnel, after which it was sprayed with paint, and industrial design specialist Konstantin Grcic worked on the yellow-black transition in close cooperation with Brabus. It is interesting that the wheels of limited-edition citycars will be multi-colored - yellow in front and black in the back.

In the interior of the special edition, you can find the #21 logos on the door sills (they will also be stamped with the name of Konstantin Grcic), the parking brake and automatic transmission handles, as well as on the headrests.

The third generation Fortwo is equipped with a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine in L3 configuration with 71 hp. or a 0.9-liter turbocharged engine with 89 hp.

Already in August, the production of Fortwo #21 will be completed and Smart will enter a new era for itself in the production of cars without traditional internal combustion engines.
