Smart is bringing an electric forease+ convertible with an unusual roof to Geneva

Smart

Daimler AG's Smart brand unveiled an "extremely open" forease at the Paris Motor Show last year that surprised everyone with the complete absence of a roof. The car, of course, had the status of a concept, but even such a status did not answer the simple question of what to do if it starts to rain. To show everything clearly, Smart will bring to Geneva a new version of forease - forease+.

The second version of the concept car has got a plastic roof sheathed in fabric, which can be removed in a few seconds: it is attached with clips. As planned by Daimler AG, the car is suitable for trips in any weather, although it does not have side windows. It is quite possible that the designers implemented the interior airflow in such a way that precipitation simply will not get into it, although it is more believed that Smart forease + is still not suitable for trips in bad weather.

The interior of the concept is quite consistent with the current cars of the brand: it has approximately the same dashboard, multimedia system, and climate control unit. Only the steering wheel stands out, which is cut off at the top, apparently, the gear ratio at the steering rack is so small that you don’t have to cross your arms to turn the steering wheel to the extreme position.

The concept electric car is driven by an 82-horsepower electric motor, which is connected to a battery with a capacity of 17.6 kWh. The forease+ has a range of 160 kilometers on a single charge.

It is worth noting that as part of the strategy for the electrification of the lineup, Smart will abandon models with internal combustion engines as early as next year.

The public debut of the car will take place next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
