On the basis of the new Skoda Fabia made a car for a professional rally

Skoda Auto has unveiled a rally car based on the new Fabia. The car called Fabia RS Rally2 has little in common with the fourth-generation serial hatchback, since it was created in accordance with the FIA technical regulations for cars of the WRC2 class (cars created on the basis of serial cars).

The Fabia RS Rally2 was developed by Skoda Motorsports. From the original car, the body frame is preserved, but almost all external panels are molded from composites. In addition, a tubular welded safety cage was installed.

Under the hood of the Fabia RS Rally2 is a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 289 hp. and a torque of 430 Nm, it is combined with a 5-speed sequential gearbox. The engine was made by deep processing of the serial 2.0-liter Volkswagen EA888 engine and runs on synthetic gasoline (the WRC international rally championship has switched to it since this season).

If the serial Fabia has a front-wheel drive layout, then the all-wheel drive transmission with mechanical cross-axle differentials front and rear is used in the rally. The design also uses an electro-hydraulic mechanism that can disengage the front or rear axle on demand to enter sharp corners at high speeds. All suspensions of the rally Fabia are independent, MacPherson type.

Wheels are 15" for gravel or 18" for tarmac. In the first case, the brake discs have a diameter of 300 mm, in the second - 355 mm in front and 300 mm in the rear.

As required by the FIA technical regulations, the car is equipped with an 82.5-liter fuel tank made of nylon and having a special fire-resistant shell of rubber and foam.

The maximum speed of the Fabia RS Rally2 is 200 km/h. Such fireballs in the Czech Republic will be produced by the piece.

It is noted that the cars of the previous generation Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo won more than 1,500 victories in 65 countries in three years of use.
