The second-generation Honda Vezel compact crossover launched in 2021 has been tested using the independent JNCAP protocol. Outside of Japan, the car is sold under the name Honda HR-V. JNCAP is organized by the National Automobile Safety Agency NASVA and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism of Japan.
As part of the tests, JNCAP conducts two frontal impacts - at a speed of 64 km / h with a 40 percent deformable overlap, and at a speed of 55 km / h with a non-deformable barrier with a 100 percent overlap. In addition, the protocol includes a side crash test, bench tests of seats (imitation of a rear impact), a front end injury test when a pedestrian is hit, checks of preventive security systems, an in-vehicle emergency call system, and so on.
Honda Vezel scored 89.92 points out of 100 for the level of protection for passengers in a frontal impact. In terms of preventive safety systems, the car received 79.12 points out of 82. For accident warning devices, the car took the maximum possible 8 points.
Ultimately, Vezel scored 177.04 out of a possible 190, earning the maximum five-star rating.
At the same time, shock tests of the Nissan Ariya electric car according to the Nissan Motor in-house methodology were placed in the public domain. The car passed frontal, rear and side crash tests, as well as a series of tests for interaction with pedestrians. The tests were carried out at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi City.
Separately demonstrated the behavior of the traction battery during a frontal impact. The energy of the collision is absorbed by the front of the body, so the deformation does not reach the battery. As part of the tests, there was no electrolyte leakage, the battery did not catch fire.
