Nissan to phase out sedans in Japan but keep Skyline

Nissan

Nissan Motor will not abandon the development of a new generation of the Skyline sedan. This was announced on June 15 by Asako Hoshino, executive vice president of the company.

Earlier, the Nikkei newspaper, citing its sources, reported that Nissan is going to completely curtail the development of new four-door for the domestic market. This applies to the Fuga, Cima and Skyline models.

Mr. Hoshino denied this information: “Last weekend, the Nikkei newspaper published an article about the cancellation of the development of the new Skyline, which is a symbol of Nissan. I didn't make a decision. Nissan will never abandon the Skyline." His words are reported by Car Watch.

Recall that the 13th generation Nissan Skyline has been produced since 2013. The sedan was last updated in July 2019. In foreign markets, the car is known as the Infiniti Q50.
