Nissan to launch electric sports car to compete with Porsche Taycan

Nissan

Nissan Motor has begun development of an unusual model - a sports four-door electric car that will compete with the Porsche Taycan. The car will be released in 2028 under the glorified GT-R index, according to the Japanese magazine Best Car, citing insiders.

A promising electric car is being developed in the North American division of Nissan Motor. Since we are talking about a sports car, it is important for the car to have a small curb weight. That's why the electric GT-R is built around next-generation traction batteries. It is assumed that the car will receive solid-state batteries - relative to the current lithium-ion ones, they have twice the energy density and are resistant to high temperatures. The output power of the battery pack in a promising car will be 1000 kW, and it will also be equipped with motors with a particularly high return.

Nissan has been developing solid-state battery technology for several years with the US National Space Agency (NASA). At the company's plant in Yokohama (Japan), a pilot batch of such batteries will be released in 2024, writes Best Car.

Briefly about the current generation R35 gasoline GT-R. Japanese journalists found out that in the fall of 2022 they will assemble the last copies of the GT-R of the current sample, but in the spring of 2023 a deeply modernized modification of the R35 will be released. While maintaining the platform and the supporting structure, the car will receive a completely new exterior, all external body panels will be replaced by it. In other words, with regard to the GT-R R35, they will follow the same path that has already been tested with the creation of the new rear-wheel drive sports car Z. The upgraded GT-R R35 will use an improved version of the current 3.8-liter gasoline V6 model VR38DETT - the power will be increased to 600 hp .with. (+45 hp relative to the current model). Recall that the transmission of the GT-R is with a robotic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
