Nissan to invest nearly $300 million to boost presence in Latin America

Nissan

Nissan Motor will strengthen its presence in the South American market - the company announced that it will invest $ 276.12 million to modernize its plant in Resende, Brazil. The goal of the project is to organize the production of new models, Reuters reports citing a Nissan representative.

It is not yet specified what specific models are in question.

The Nissan Motor plant in the Brazilian municipality of Resende was launched in 2014, with a total investment of $1.5 billion. Currently, the company produces the Versa compact sedan and the Kicks crossover. Cars are sold domestically and exported to other countries in Latin America. In addition to the car assembly line, the production complex includes an engine shop, where a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine is produced.

Note that all models produced at the Brazilian plant are built on the Nissan V platform for inexpensive compact cars. It can be assumed that the upcoming new items will also be based on the Nissan V for the purpose of unification.
