Nissan Motor has changed the generation of the X-Trail mid-size crossover in the Japanese domestic market. Until now, the Land of the Rising Sun has offered the T32 generation model, but now the T33 has come out. For reference: in North America, such a crossover under the name Rogue has been sold since the end of 2020, in China - as X-Trail since the spring of 2021.
From the outside, the new Nissan X-Trail for Japan repeats the version for China, however, in some versions, the right-hand drive X-Trail has a lower part of the front bumper in its own style.
The design of the model is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi CMF-C platform. The overall length, width and height of the new X-Trail are 4660, 1840 and 1720 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 2705 mm. The track of the front and rear wheels is 1585 and 1590 mm, respectively. Relative to the T32, the new X-Trail is 30mm shorter, 20mm wider and 20mm lower. The turning radius is 5.4 m, 0.2 m less than the car of the previous generation.
Relative to its predecessor, the new crossover has reduced weight and at the same time increased body rigidity. In addition, the soundproofing of the cabin has been improved.
In Japan, the model will only be offered with the second-generation e-Power hybrid powertrain. It includes a 3-cylinder VC petrol turbo unit with a variable compression ratio - automatic varies it in the range from 8:1 to 14:1 depending on the current driving conditions. This achieves maximum engine efficiency - low values provide high power and torque, and a high compression ratio reduces fuel consumption. e-Power works in series, that is, the internal combustion engine is not connected to the wheels here, but is used only to charge traction batteries through the generator, which, in turn, feed the electric motor.
ICE power - 140 hp, torque - 250 Nm.
In the basic configuration of the new X-Trail for the Japanese, e-Power is equipped with one BM46 electric motor installed in front, respectively, the front-wheel drive. This unit produces 150 kW (198 hp) and 330 Nm.
The more expensive X-Trail is equipped with the e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system with a separate MM48 electric motor on the rear axle, it develops 100 kW (132 hp) and 195 Nm. e-4ORCE continuously analyzes the current road conditions and adjusts the distribution of traction between all four wheels according to them, the automation slows them down if necessary. In this way, the best grip is achieved on winding roads or off-road. In addition, wheel slippage on snowy surfaces is prevented.
Among other things, the package of the new X-Trail includes the latest versions of the 360 ° Safety Assist preventive safety system and the ProPilot semi-autopilot. The first monitors "blind" zones within a 360-degree radius, controls traffic along the lane, automatically controls the high beam and activates emergency braking when a sudden obstacle is detected, to which the driver himself did not have time to react. ProPilot, on the other hand, can take over driving on highways - in addition to data from radars and cameras, it also uses information from the navigation system, including information about speed limits on specific sections of roads “hardwired” into it. The ProPilot Parking feature is the automatic parking of the car, without the participation of the driver.
Inside, there is a digital instrument panel and media systems with a 12.3-inch screen. The machine is also equipped with a 10.8-inch projection display. The seats are upholstered in waterproof Tailor Fit fabric or nappa leather (customer's choice).
The front-wheel drive version of the crossover consumes 5.0 l / 100 km, all-wheel drive - 5.5 l / 100 km. The first of the wheel modifications has 235/55 R19, the ground clearance is 200 mm, the second one has 235/60 R18 and 185 mm.
Salon at the choice of the buyer five- or seven-seater.
All suspensions are independent.
In all cases, the crossover is equipped with the e-Pedal system, which allows you to control both acceleration and deceleration using the accelerator pedal: press it - the car starts moving, release it - the brakes are automatically applied (the brake lights light up)
