On September 21, Mercedes-Benz introduced new modifications of the C-Class sedan and station wagon - this is the third-generation sports Mercedes-AMG C63. The previous two generations of the C63 AMG had V8 petrol engines, but in the new incarnation, the car received a hybrid system built around a 2.0-liter petrol 4-cylinder turbo unit. The full index of the novelty is C63 S.
The M139 internal combustion engine alone develops 476 hp, an electric turbocharger gives it such an outstanding characteristic. Mercedes-AMG says it's the most powerful production 4-cylinder engine in the world. He is assisted by an electric motor located on the rear axle with a two-speed gearbox and an electronically controlled differential lock, its return is 150 kW (204 hp). The plant works on the principle of a parallel hybrid. 4Matic+ all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering and a 6.1kWh lithium-ion battery are standard.
From 0 to 100 km / h, the car accelerates in 3.4 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h, but the AMG Driver's Package option is offered, with which the bar can be raised to 280 km / h for the sedan, and up to 270 km for the station wagon /h On pure electric traction, the sports car can travel up to 13 km, although the electric motor is mainly used for additional acceleration.
Alas, due to the complex power plant, the C63 S came out very heavy: the curb weight of the sedan is 2111 kg, the station wagon is 2145 kg. This is more than the weight of the executive S500 (2045 kg).
Outside, the C63 S is distinguished from its standard counterparts by an elongated and extended body (by 8.3 and 7.6 cm, respectively), as well as a spectacular aerodynamic body kit. In the cabin, the main thing is the original sports front seats with developed lateral support.
The C63 S will be assembled in small series at the Mercedes-AMG plant and will go on sale in Germany in late 2022/early 2023.
