Mercedes-Benz has updated three mass models at once

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled updated versions of the A-Class hatchback and sedan, as well as the B-Class compact van.

The A-Class has minimal exterior changes. The radiator grill has a different pattern - instead of a chrome-plated “dotted line” with a variable pitch, a lot of three-beam “stars” are used that rhyme with the emblem. The A-Class bonnet panel in all versions now has two longitudinal punchings - they emphasize the sporty style of the car. The front bumper in the standard version lost four “blades” at the corners, and in the AMG package, the air intakes were visually combined into a single element through a horizontal slot.

The A-Class comes standard with the old halogen headlights, but the optional LED units get new graphics. The designers also retouched the pattern of the rear lights.

The display of the media system has been enlarged in the cabin. In the basic version, before its diagonal was 7 inches, now it is 10.25 inches. The size of the digital shield is still 7 inches, but it became possible to order a 10.25-inch screen for an extra charge.

Quick access keys have been removed from the center console, secondary functions are now controlled exclusively through the touch screen or using voice commands.

Now it is possible to activate pre-loaded settings for a specific driver using a fingerprint.

The shape of the three-spoke steering wheel has become more expressive. The basic equipment of the model is supplemented by a rear-view camera, a leather-trimmed steering wheel rim and a package of USB connectors.

In terms of technology, innovations are like this. Petrol modifications of the A-Class are now supplemented with a mild hybrid system - with a 48-volt starter-generator, it helps with acceleration, adds an additional 13 hp. The starter-alternator is not compatible with a manual gearbox, so this transmission is no longer available for "ashki" - only 7- or 8-speed preselective "robots".

The A250 e plug-in hybrid has received an updated electric motor, which now develops 80 kW (109 hp +7 hp). On pure electric traction, this version can travel up to 81 km.

The A-Class petrol range consists of the A180 (136 hp), A200 (163 hp), A220 (190 hp) and A250 (224 hp) variants. The first two modifications are front-wheel drive, the third and fourth are all-wheel drive. The diesel range includes A180 d (116 hp), A200 d (150 hp) and A220 d (190 hp), they are front-wheel drive. The hybrid A250 e (163 hp) has front wheel drive.

The AMG sports line-up now consists of the A35 (306 hp) and A45 S (421 hp), while the A45 (387 hp) has been dropped. The drive of the Mercedes-AMG A-Class is full.

At the same time, the compact van B-Class, co-platform with the A-Class, was updated. It also received a new bumper with slightly modified plastic and a hood with longitudinal punching, different graphics for headlights and lanterns, a modified radiator grille pattern, and a media system screen enlarged to 10.25 inches. In terms of technology, the innovations are similar to the A-Class, that is, the petrol cars are supplemented with a starter-generator, and the power of the electric motor in the B250 e hybrid is increased by 5 kW.
