Gelendvagen received a new version with a ground clearance of 35 cm

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new modification of Gelendvagen W463A - Mercedes-AMG G63 4x42, it is designed for extreme off-road.

This is the second generation of the G-Class 4x42, the previous one was produced in 2015-2017, it was made on the basis of the previous generation Gelika G500 W463.

The new G-Class 4x42 follows the same recipe as the old one. Portal bridges were used here, thanks to which the ground clearance was increased to 351 mm, and the depth of the ford to be overcome - up to 910 mm. However, the predecessor G500 4x42 had even more impressive characteristics - 450 mm and 1000 mm, respectively.

The novelty is equipped with 22-inch wheels with special off-road tires. Since the track is larger than that of the usual one, the standard fender extensions were “increased” at the expense of additional, carbon-fiber ones. In order for the car not to “conflict” with the rules on passive safety, Mercedes-Benz designers had to mount a steel underride bar under the rear bumper, like on trucks.

Under the hood, the G63 4x42 does not differ from the G63 with conventional axles, that is, the novelty is equipped with a 4.0-liter gasoline V8 with a biturbo, power is 585 hp, torque - 850 Nm. Although the car is designed for heavy off-road, its dynamic performance on asphalt is only slightly worse than that of the original G63: acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h takes 5.5 seconds (a second more).

Mercedes-Benz immediately warned that the G63 4x42 would not be produced for long, which means that they would be assembled in a small edition. In the European Union, the car will be offered at a price of about 250,000 euros, sales will start during 2022.
