On November 19, Japan launched sales of the updated Lexus LS. The car has changed visually and received a new technique.
A restyled version of the sedan was introduced in July. The LS has less intricately shaped headlights and a different front bumper. Behind the metamorphoses are noticeable only with a close comparison of the two versions. In particular, the diffuser panel made of unpainted plastic and exhaust pipes have become different.
The main innovation in the cabin is the display of the media system: if earlier it was under the visor of the front panel, now it sticks out in the manner of a tablet.
The petrol version of the LS500, with its turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, has increased low-end torque to help sharpen throttle response. The LS500h hybrid with a 3.5-liter V6 has learned to get more help from the battery, making its acceleration more pronounced too.
It is noteworthy that the peak return has not changed. The LS500 is still 422 hp, the LS500h is 359 hp.
The update introduces Adaptive Variable Suspension, which improves comfort when using run flat tires. Changed engine mounts to reduce vibration transmitted to the body. In addition to this, engineers have integrated an active noise cancellation system. For the sedan, the Lexus Teammate system is available, which will be able to drive a car without the participation of a driver: make lane changes, overtake, and so on. Also, the computer is able to adjust the driving style to the current traffic situation. In the future, the Japanese company promises to update the capabilities of Teammate "over the air."
The minimum price for the LS500 in Japan is 11,140,000 yen. For the LS500h, you will have to pay from 12,600,000 yen.
