Simultaneously with the new generation GX, Lexus held the world premiere of the brand new TX mid-size crossover. This machine is designed specifically for North America, where it will take a position half a step above the RX model.
The Lexus TX has a three-row, seven-seat interior layout.
The car will be offered in the following versions:
TX350 - T24A-FTS 2.4L petrol turbo + 8-speed automatic transmission, front or all-wheel drive;
TX500h - parallel hybrid, 2.4-liter gasoline engine + 6-speed automatic transmission + electric motor + Direct4 all-wheel drive;
The TX550h+ is a plug-in parallel hybrid, 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 petrol (2GR-FXS) + CVT + electric motor + all-wheel drive.
The engine power of the TX350 is 275 hp, in the hybrid TX500h and TX550h the units develop 366 hp. and 406 hp respectively. The first of the hybrids is equipped with a Dynamic Rear Steering rear axle. At low speeds, it turns in the direction opposite to the front wheels and thus improves maneuverability. At high levels, it steers in the same direction as the front axle, which increases driving stability.
The novelty is built on the TNGA GA-K platform, in terms of the supporting body structure and side doors, the car is completely unified with the Toyota Grand Highlander. However, the front and rear parts of the body of the Lexus are original, forming their own exterior style.
The overall length, width and height of the Lexus TX are 5160, 1990 and 1780 mm respectively, the wheelbase is 2950 mm. The landing diameter of the wheels is 20 or 22 inches.
Lexus TX production is deployed at the Toyota plant in Indiana (USA), prices have not yet been announced.
