Lexus brought an updated ES business sedan to the motor show that opened today in Shanghai. The car received changes in appearance and equipment.
Outside, restyling brought the “e-esque” a new grille and modified headlight graphics (the DRL lightning was slightly shortened, and the three LED “spotlights” received rectangular lenses).
There are new body colors - Iridium (silver) and Cloudburst Gray (gray), as well as additional design options for alloy wheels with a diameter of 17, 18 and 19 inches.
Inside, there is an enlarged brake pedal. It is designed to increase foot stability and confidence when pressed. Plus, interface specialists have significantly redesigned the media system. Its screen has become touch-sensitive and pushed forward more (installed closer to the driver and front passenger). The base provides an 8-inch touchscreen, for a surcharge - 12.3.
Now all ES are already in the database equipped with an updated security system Lexus Safety System +2.5. With the help of a camera and radar, it monitors obstacles ahead and automatically brakes in case of danger. Automation is able to recognize pedestrians and cars.
Changes in terms of power units are not declared.
Recall that the seventh generation ES sedan (code designation XZ10) has been on sale since 2018. The Lexus ES is based on the GA-K platform, which is also used in the Toyota Camry. It is part of the overall TNGA modular architecture. The sedan has front-wheel drive, and since 2020, an all-wheel drive version has appeared in the lineup.
