In two years, Toyota plans to release the next (fifth) generation Lexus RX mid-size crossover - the concern has already registered indexes that transparently hint at what modifications it will be offered in.

Toyota has registered the trademarks RX350h, RX450h+ and RX500h in the patent offices of the world's largest countries. These designations are also available in the Rospatent database.

The letter h in the indices indicates that the new RX is planned to be produced only with hybrid power plants. The + symbol in the designation of an intermediate modification indicates that it will be a hybrid with the ability to recharge the battery from an external network.

Japanese media write that the RX350h will be equipped with a THS II installation with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, and the RX500h will be equipped with a system with a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine. The RX450h+ will be powered by the recently launched RAV4 PHEV rechargeable. It consists of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with a return of 178 hp, an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a boost converter. The total power of the system is 306 hp, the car will be able to drive up to 62 km exclusively on electric traction.

The current Lexus RX has been in production since 2015 and is offered in a standard five-seater and an extended seven-seater. The current top-of-the-range model is called the RX450h, which has a 308-hp hybrid system built around a 3.5-liter V6 petrol.
