Lexus has announced the premiere of the new LBX model - it will be presented on June 5 at a special event in Milan (Italy). This will be the new entry vehicle in the brand's product range.
There are no details yet, but it is assumed that we are talking about a Toyota Yaris Cross with a modified exterior and new external body elements. Lexus will also have a premium interior.
Recall that Toyota Yaris Cross has been produced since 2020, this model is built on a single platform with Yaris hatchbacks - TNGA-B, but has a completely original five-door body. The overall length of the Yaris Cross is 4180 mm, the ground clearance is 170 mm.
The crossover is equipped with a gasoline or hybrid power plant. In the first case, a 1.5-liter unit with a capacity of 120 hp is installed, combined with a stepless variator. The hybrid version involves a combination of a 91-horsepower 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor with a return of 59 kW (80 hp), the total characteristic is 116 hp.
The Yaris Cross has front-wheel drive, but for an extra charge you can order the E-Four system, with which a 5.3 hp electric motor driving the rear axle is installed. and a torque of 52 Nm. It turns on automatically when poor traction is detected - if it is wet, snowy or covered with sand. E-Four only works during acceleration and at low speeds. In the mono-drive version, the rear suspension is a semi-independent beam, the 4x4 version uses an independent multi-link design.
