Lexus has announced a mysterious concept car

Lexus

Lexus has published the first photos and videos of the concept car, which will present on March 30. It doesn't have a name yet, but it's claimed to be the herald of the next generation of Lexus cars - with electric motors.

The blacked-out promos show some of the nose, but it's clear that Lexus will retain the iconic swoosh headlight styling with DRLs and the large front grille (it's likely to be styled differently from the ICE cars).

Judging by the profile photo, the car has a solid ground clearance and a sloping roof. With this in mind, we can talk about a cross-coupe that is fashionable today.

The illuminated logo is also visible in the picture. There is no information yet about whether it will become a feature of all the latest models of the company or only electric vehicles will flaunt it.

The novelty will receive two electric motors (one per axle) and will be able to “precisely control the transmission of torque” from each of them. At the same time, Lexus says that it is switching to electrification not for the usual environmental reasons, but for the sake of increasing “dynamics, handling and driving pleasure”.

Recall that while Lexus has only one electric car - UX300e. The crossover is equipped with a 204-horsepower front-mounted electric motor and a floor-mounted battery with a capacity of 54.3 kWh. The power reserve is estimated at 400 km on the NEDC cycle or 367 km on the more realistic WLTC. Front wheel drive only. When using a station with a capacity of 50 kW, it will take 50 minutes to charge the battery up to 75%, and 80 minutes up to 100%. With a 6.6 kW home unit, it will take about seven hours on the wire.
