The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and Lexus LX are considered among the best off-road vehicles for building expedition vehicles. Another confirmation of this was found in the USA: a Lexus LX470 was put up for auction there for heavy and long outings into nature.
According to the car's story on Bring a Trailer, which sells it, the current owner bought the LX470 in 2019, after which it was thoroughly modified. Toyota took part in the modification, which raised the seating position of the car by 2.5 inches (6.35 cm), installed RadFlo shocks with an external reservoir, off-road bumpers, a winch system, LED lighting, 17-inch wheels with BFGoodrich KO2 A tires / T, rooftop tent, solar panels, hot water system and additional storage space. The total project budget is estimated at $64,000.
The 4.7-liter 2UZ-FE with 238 hp is still installed under the hood. and a standard 5-speed automatic transmission. In the transfer case, the underdrive sprockets were replaced, due to which the ratio changed from 2.488:1 to 3.12:1.
This LX470 has 127,000 miles on the odometer, about 200,000 kilometers. But taking into account fresh improvements, the off-road life of the car is probably just beginning.
The current auction bid is $31,000. Bidding ends in four days.
